AI mix feedback tools, compared

By Alex KremerLast updated and verified

Plenty of tools now take a bounce and give AI feedback on it, but they do different jobs. Here they are grouped by the job, with who each is for, how it works, what it costs, its free tier, how it handles reference tracks and whether other people can join in.

We make Slapback, one of the tools on this list.

AI notes and comments from people, on one track

For when you want an AI first pass, then notes from collaborators, a mentor or a client in the same place.

Slapback

Creative Feedback listens to the song and leaves timestamped notes on arrangement and sound design. Engineering Feedback measures the mix and master against a released electronic track. Collaborators comment on the same timeline. There's no score, and the free tier is one run of each kind.

Who it's for
Music producers who want an honest read on a track before they release it.
How it works
Upload an audio file from any DAW. Creative Feedback listens to the song and leaves timestamped notes on arrangement, sound design and what to try next. Engineering Feedback measures the mix and master against a released reference track. Feedback arrives in about two minutes.
Pricing
Free to start. Pro is $16.99/month, cancel anytime.
Free tier
1 free Creative Feedback run and 1 free Engineering Feedback run per account, each on a full track, with no card. They don't refill monthly. Measurements on every track (with a daily limit) and unlimited human collaboration are free too.
Score
No number or grade. Engineering Feedback marks each finding critical, important, minor or praise.
Reference tracks
Matched for you from a catalog of released electronic music (house, techno and related styles), or bring your own.
Other people on the track
Unlimited on every plan. Collaborators leave timestamped comments, GIFs and voice notes on the same timeline as the AI notes. Share by link.

MixMaster Pro

Gives a Mix Score from 0 to 100 and places AI-found issues on the waveform as a to-do list. On Studio ($29/month) and up, clients can leave timestamped comments on a waveform without an account. The same account also masters and splits stems.

What Slapback's notes look like

Three notes from real Slapback runs, copied word for word.

Engineering Feedback · Important

Lean low-mids and body (250 Hz – 2 kHz)

Compared to the reference track, your low-mids (250–500 Hz) are 3.3 dB down, and your core mids (500 Hz–2 kHz) are 2.3 dB down. This makes the overall balance feel slightly hollow or scooped.

Suggestion: Check if you have high-pass filters set too aggressively on melodic elements. Adding a gentle 1 to 2 dB wide bell boost around 350–600 Hz on your chord instruments or pads will restore body and warmth.

Engineering Feedback · Important

Melodic instruments quiet against rhythm section

The non-drum/bass elements (synths, keys, pads, and background FX grouped in the "other" stem) average -24.6 dB RMS, which is about 5.4 dB quieter than the reference track's -19.2 dB RMS.

Suggestion: Raise the volume faders on your main synth leads, keys, and background textures by 2 to 4 dB so they can comfortably support the drums and bass.

Creative Feedback · 3:42 · Critical

This drop feels almost identical to the one at 01:32. To elevate it, add a new harmonic layer. A high-octave string pad playing long, sustained notes that follow the chord progression would add a sense of scale and make this drop feel bigger than the first.

Questions producers ask

Which AI mix feedback tool is best?

The one that does the job you need. For a score to track, look at TrackSensei, TrackScore.AI or MixMaster Pro. For answers inside your DAW, MixingGPT or EchoJay. For AI notes plus comments from people on the same track, Slapback or MixMaster Pro. Every specialist tool here has a free option, so try two on the same bounce.

Can ChatGPT give feedback on my mix?

On paid plans, ChatGPT accepts audio files and can discuss a recording, according to the ChatGPT Help Center. Its audio examples are meetings, interviews and lectures, and it doesn't mention mix analysis. More in Slapback vs ChatGPT.

Does Slapback give my track a score?

No. Slapback doesn't give a number or a grade. Engineering Feedback sorts its findings into critical, important, minor and praise, then sums up what to work on next.

Which tools let other people comment on my track?

On Slapback, collaborators comment on the same timeline as the AI notes, on every plan. On MixMaster Pro's Studio plan ($29/month) and up, clients leave timestamped comments without an account. TrackScore.AI lists a shareable results link, and TrackSensei says its feedback is between you and its mentor. ChatGPT lists shared projects, but not comments on an audio track.

Get a second opinion on your mix

Your first Engineering Feedback run is free, no credit card. It measures your mix against a released electronic track and tells you what to work on next.
