Common questions
Is the AI actually useful, or is it generic?
It's built for music. Creative Feedback listens to your song and gives timestamped notes on arrangement, sound design and what to try next. Engineering Feedback measures your mix and master against a released track matched to yours. Attach your Ableton Live Set and the creative notes can use your track names and plugins.
Why would I pay when the free tier exists?
You might not need to. 1 free Creative Feedback run and 1 free Engineering Feedback run are enough to know if Slapback is worth your time. Most people upgrade when they want feedback on the next version too.
Does the AI replace my collaborators?
No. It gets you unstuck at 2am so you have something worth sending to them. Think of it as a first pass, not a final word.
What if the feedback is wrong?
It happens. The AI can mistake one section for another or name the wrong instrument. Mark the note Not Helpful or Ignore it to hide it, or ask the AI a follow-up about it. On Engineering Feedback findings, use the thumbs to show which part was off. If the reference track is a poor match for your genre, pick your own before you run Engineering Feedback. If a run went badly wrong, tell support and we can give you another.
Can I use Pro for one release, then cancel?
Yes. Cancel anytime in the app: open the menu under your profile picture, choose Manage Subscription, then Cancel subscription. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for and won't be charged again. After that you're back on Free. Free runs are per account, so runs you used on Pro count toward them.
Will my music be used to train AI models?
No. Your music is never used to train AI models. Creative Feedback runs your audio through Slapback's proprietary AI system, and Engineering Feedback sends it measurements and spectrogram images, not your audio. Your music stays private and is used only to give you feedback.
Do you store my music files on your servers?
We store audio files (mp3, wav, etc.) securely on our servers to enable playback and collaboration features. However, we do NOT store your .als (Ableton Live Set) files. These are analyzed in your browser, and we only extract the essential metadata (track names, arrangement, plugin usage) needed to recreate the project structure. Your original .als files never leave your computer.
